Super Brisket Enters Enemy Territory

This blog would not be an accurate representation of delicous Cleveland deli meats if we did not pay proper respects to the world famous Slyman's. Located slightly Northeast of the beautiful Cleveland skyline is a small building boasting the biggest "Corned Beef in the City." I will attempt to document my experience and put aside my love for Mr. Brisket.

As I opened the door I am immediately hit my a mixture of meat, french fries, and anticipation of a packed house hoping to sample the wonderful meat treasure. The next thing I experinece is the wonderful American tradition of Capitalism. Automated meat slicers, t-shirts, sweat shirts, and a whole assortment of merchandise to cash in on the massive following of Slyman's. I was in such awe of the automatic meat slicer that I forgot to take a picture and my words could not do a justice. But imagine a machineshaving a 3 pound piece of meat with nothing but a small glass divider. I thought I died and went to heaven.

For the number of people in that small building the line moved fast. By the time I took my eyes off the meat slicer I was next in line to order. The mysterious deli wizard behind the counter banished a woman two spots ahead of me for ordering incorrectly, so I was extremely nervous. When my turn came, I ordered the roast beef with swiss and thousand island dressing. The meat wizard took the order without writing anything down and echoed the order to his meat minions. He then paid me the ultimate compliment saying I looked like Clark Kent and asked if I saw the most recent Superman.

When I finally recieved my sandwich I ran out to my car to not be distracted while enjoying my meat treat. It truly was a girthy sandwich and the presentation was wonderful. My first bite was a relvelation coming from the delicious harmony of meat, cheese, and the perfect balance of sauce. After the shock, I took a more critical bite and have a few objections. I prefer a hot sandwich but this was room temperature, the easies way to tell is if the cheese is slightly melted. Once again I have to mention that I write this with a small bias so I encourage you to undertake this adventure in person.  The atmosphere is second to none, the meat wizard is strict but just, and they truly care about their meats.
